A FAMILY of five and their pet dogs were attacked by a pack of strays while camping in Bentong, Pahang, recently, reported China Press.
The incident took place at 3am on Aug 11 at a popular campsite.
Huang, who is from Selangor, checked into the campsite with her husband, daughter, two sisters, and five pups.
In the wee hours of the morning, several stray dogs entered one of their tents and attacked one pup by dragging it out.
The husband rushed out to rescue their pet and was injured in the process.
Huang said she was deeply shaken by the incident as the dogs came very close to her three-year-old daughter who was sleeping.
Just half an hour later, Huang was awoken by her sisters screaming and she discovered that the pack of strays had entered the adjacent tent and dragged another one of their pets away.
Fortunately, they managed to rescue their pet.
The family lodged a police report at 4am and took their pets to a veterinarian.
“The medical expenses exceeded RM2,800. Fortunately, I had taken out pet insurance,” Huang said.
Huang sent letters of demand to the campsite operators asking them to cover the medical expenses required by the injured pets.
The daily contacted the operators but has yet to receive a response.

The service was originally for tourists with limited stamina who needed porters to carry their belongings.

A woman from Shanghai recently hired 30 men, each around 185cm tall, to “bridal carry” her up Mount Tai.
It reportedly cost her between 20,000 and 30,000 yuan (RM12,135 and RM18,202)
The large group of “hiking companions” led to other visitors complaining that they were obstructing the way and increasing the risk of falls.
Following this, the Mount Tai Scenic Area launched a crackdown on bridal carry services, saying that they posed a safety risk on the mountain paths.
