PETALING JAYA: Monash University Malaysia, Sunway University and Taylor’s University have formalised the Triple Alliance with the inaugural Triple Alliance Philharmonic Orchestra as a celebration of collaboration, creativity and shared excellence.
Held at Sunway Square Jeffrey Cheah Performing Arts Centre recently, the landmark musical event was attended by Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir, and brought together the three universities’ communities to symbolise the partnership’s commitment to fostering meaningful connections beyond academia.
The Triple Alliance brings together more than 64,500 students and 5,657 staff across three universities, leveraging their proximity and complementary strengths to create greater opportunities for learning, research and community impact in Malaysia and beyond.
It will pursue joint initiatives across five key areas: education, research, shared resources, student life and community impact in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, healthcare and digital innovation.
Sunway Group founder and chairman, Tan Sri Sir Dr Jeffrey Cheah said: “For many years, I have held a vision for Sunway City Kuala Lumpur to become a regional hub of excellence for quality education and world-class research.
“A place where knowledge is created, ideas are challenged, and young minds are prepared to shape the future. The official launch of the Triple Alliance marks an important milestone in this journey.
“The three universities collectively comprise an amazing concentration of talent, ideas and intellectual energy within such close proximity.
“My vision is to create an environment of collaboration, competition and innovation. Such an ecosystem can help develop the human capital Malaysia needs as our nation continues its journey towards becoming a high-income economy and, more importantly, a more learned and progressive society.”
Zambry said the Triple Alliance between Monash University Malaysia, Sunway University and Taylor’s University serve as a new model for higher education by bringing together the strengths of institutions to create greater impact for the country and region.
“This approach is aligned with the Malaysia Higher Education Plan 2026–2035, which promotes collaborative networks that enable institutions to share expertise, facilities and resources,” he added.
