JOHOR BARU: The eldest brother of the two-year-old girl, who was attacked by five stray dogs, is left traumatised after witnessing the incident.
The girl’s mother Nur Wahyuni Harun, 36, said her 12-year-old son has been refusing to eat after watching his sister Nur Haira Wafiqah Mohammad Hamizi getting attacked in front of their grandmother’s house.
“He has been crying at night because when he closes his eyes, he can picture the incident.
“I feel very sad that I could not hug him back home in Batu Pahat, as my husband and I have to stay at Hospital Sultanah Aminah in Johor Baru for Nur Haira, who is in the intensive care unit,” she said when met at the hospital on Tuesday (Sept 8).
The mother of three said she was on the way to Johor Baru from Batu Pahat for a part-time job of selling fritters at an event when Nur Haira Wafiqah Mohammad Hamizi was attacked at around 7am last Saturday (Sept 5).
The girl, who was left under her grandmother’s care, was found lying on the ground with bloodied face and head wounds.
Meanwhile, the girl’s father Mohammad Hamizi Hamdan, 37, has asked the public to stop sharing photos of Nur Haira’s injuries.
“We do not give consent to people to share the graphic photos. The images are very traumatising and add to the pain we are already feeling,” he said.
Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani reportedly said the girl suffered injuries to almost her entire body after she was attacked by a pack of dogs believed to be strays in Peserai here.
