NILAI: A three-year-old girl lost a gold necklace worth RM2,900 after it was snatched by a man while she was at a food festival at N9 Arena here on Saturday (Aug 29) night.
Nilai OCPD Supt Johari Yahya confirmed that police received a report at 10.28pm.
The victim, her mother and other family members had been walking through the crowded festival area when the incident occurred.
"The victim informed her mother that a man had pulled something from her neck before she realised that her daughter's gold necklace was missing," Supt Johari said in a statement on Sunday (Aug 30).
He said police were conducting intelligence gathering and reviewing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the area to identify the suspect.
The case is being investigated under Section 392 of the Penal Code for robbery.
Supt Johari urged members of the public with information on the incident to assist the investigation by contacting the Nilai District Police Headquarters (IPD) Operations Room at 06-790 4222 or any nearby police station. – Bernama
