Postpone events, public urged

KUCHING: The public has been advised to postpone activities or events, particularly those held outdoors and involving large crowds, due to the hot weather and haze.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (JPBNS) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said that the move was a precautionary measure to reduce public exposure to unhealthy air quality.

“JPBNS, together with relevant agencies, will continue to monitor and coordinate measures based on the latest developments to ensure any risks to public safety and health are addressed appropriately,” he said in a statement yesterday, as reported by Bernama.

Several programmes, including the Sarawak Ku Sayang scheduled for Aug 28 to 30 in Mukah and the state-level National Day celebrations scheduled for Aug 30 to 31 in Kapit, have been postponed.
