KOTA BARU: A suspected drug trafficker was arrested after he brandished a machete at police during a raid in Kampung Lubok Bongor, Jeli, and injured one officer.
Jeli OCPD Supt Kamarulzaman Harun said it occurred at 11am on Thursday when a CID team raided an unnumbered house in the village.
“The suspect acted aggressively by pulling out a machete tucked into his waistband and brandishing it at police officers while threatening to kill them.
“When officers tried to apprehend him, a struggle ensued, resulting in one officer sustaining injuries to his left middle finger and left shoulder,” he said, Bernama reported.
Police seized a 36cm-long machete and a transparent plastic packet containing six reddish pills suspected to be yaba.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect was wanted by the district Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division for distributing drugs.
