Police arrest three over alleged illegal parking fee dispute in OUG


KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested three men following the alleged assault and threats made against a woman who had questioned the collection of parking fees without permission at a vacant lot near the OUG Community Hall along Jalan Awan Besar, here.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus said police received a report from the 38-year-old woman at about 2.38pm on Aug 15.

“The complainant was at the location when one of the suspects allegedly hurled abusive words at her before punching her on the head.

“The suspect also allegedly threatened to assault her and cause trouble at her workplace,” he said in a statement Sunday (Aug 16).

Comm Fadil said police subsequently arrested three suspects, aged between 20 and 26 years old.

“Checks found that all three suspects have previous criminal records,” he said.

He said the case was being investigated under Sections 506 and 323 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation and voluntarily causing hurt.

“The first suspect was remanded for three days from Aug 16 to 18, while the other two suspects were each remanded for one day,” he said.

He also assured that Kuala Lumpur police would continue enforcing the law to safeguard public safety and order.
