KUALA LUMPUR: The Kuala Lumpur office of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is stepping up efforts to combat corruption at the grassroots level through the Wira Antirasuah programme.
Its director, Mohamad Zakkuan Talib, said instilling integrity from an early age was a long-term investment in nurturing a principled younger generation with the courage to reject all forms of misconduct.
“A true hero does not necessarily have extraordinary powers, but is someone who has the courage to do the right thing.
“Integrity is not something demonstrated only through major actions. It starts with the small things we do in our daily lives, such as not cheating, not taking what belongs to others, not copying, keeping promises and honouring the trust placed in us,” he said in a statement, Bernama reported.
The programme held at SK Jalan Pasar 1 (SKJP1) here yesterday, featured various interactive activities, including a briefing by the Kuala Lumpur MACC Community Education Branch, as well as a session with Kapten MACC, the commission’s mascot.
Mohamad Zakkuan also launched the SKJP1 Anti-Corruption Corner as a platform to provide school staff and pupils with information on integrity.
In addition to awareness activities, the welfare of pupils was also given attention through the donation of a smart TV by Yayasan Prihatin SPRM to the school, as well as aid for 29 pupils from underprivileged families.
As a symbolic show of support for the Keep Malaysia Clean campaign and in conjunction with National Month celebrations, the programme also saw the school’s special education pupils planting hibiscus.
