PUTRAJAYA: Transport Minister Anthony Loke has brushed aside speculation that Thursday's (Aug 13) press conference could be his last as a Cabinet minister, saying: “After Sunday we talk.”
His remarks came ahead of the 2026 DAP Party Conference on Sunday (Aug 16), where delegates will vote on whether the party should remain in or leave the Federal Government for the remainder of the current parliamentary term.
Loke, who is also DAP secretary-general, dismissed suggestions that his Thursday media appearance could be his last as a minister.
“How do you think it's my last? I have never mentioned that.
“After Sunday we talk,” he told reporters at the Transport Ministry headquarters here on Thursday.
Loke was asked how he felt about today's press conference potentially being his last as a Cabinet minister.
Pressed on whether he appeared nervous, Loke said he was not.
“Do I seem nervous?... I seem very relaxed today,” he said, adding that he was preparing to celebrate the ministry secretary-general's birthday.
“So after this we have the birthday celebration. Okay? Thank you very much,” he said.
The motion on whether DAP should remain in or leave the Federal Government will be decided through a vote involving 4,264 delegates from 1,704 eligible branches attending the conference at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre.
