KOTA KINABALU: Five company owners have claimed trial for allegedly making false claims under the Daya Kerjaya 2.0 incentive scheme in 2024.
Based on the facts of the charges, these owners - Arzeanti Jafar, 40, Foo Fong Kent, 32, Pausia Abu, 50, Mohd Azhar Ramali, 40, and Nur Farhanah Jamil, 38, had submitted claims for the incentive scheme with false information between March and September.
Arzeanti faces one charge, Foo three, Pausia two, Azhar two and Farhanah one charge, and have all pleaded not guilty when charged separately at the Special Corruptions Court here, Thursday (Aug 6).
Judge Andi Razulijaya set bail at RM8,000 for Arzeanti and Sept 14 for case management while the trial dates are set from Oct 12 to Oct 16 while Foo needs to pay a RM10,000 bail pending case management on Sept 14. His trial will commence from Oct 19 to Oct 23.
For Pausia, the judge set a RM10,000 bail for her and trial to go on from Oct 12 to Oct 14, a RM10,000 bail for Azhar and Oct 19, Oct 21, Oct 22 and Oct 23 for trial.
Nur Farhana is given RM8,000 bail and trial dates from Oct 26 to Oct 30.
All except Nur Farhana are represented.
If convicted, they can be jailed up to 20 years or fined at least five times the bribe amount (if it can be valued or in monetary terms), or RM10,000, whichever amount is higher.
The Daya Kerjaya programme is a government hiring incentive managed by the Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) where employers can claim financial support when they hire jobseekers from vulnerable groups such as persons with disabilities (OKU), ex-convicts, senior citizens and long-term unemployed people.
