JELEBU: Defying the cliché that young voters prefer to sleep in, three childhood best friends were among the first in line when polls opened in Pertang on Saturday morning (Aug 1).
Norazlin Abdullah and twin sisters Asmissa Sakina and Asmissa Syafina Assemi, all 25, arrived together shortly after voting began.
“Who says young people don’t wake up early?” Norazlin quipped with a laugh after voting.
For the trio, who had grown up side by side in the same community since toddlerhood and shared nearly every major milestone, turning up at the polling station together felt like second nature.
While younger voters are often expected to trickle in later in the day, the three friends joined the early morning queue right alongside the senior citizens filing through Channel 1.
Finger-marked with indelible ink and civic duty fulfilled, the three left the station together—proving that some friendships, and traditions, only grow stronger with age.
