IPOH: A 72-year-old man was killed after the motorcycle he was riding crashed into a fallen tree blocking the road near Kampung Senggang in Kuala Kangsar.
The Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (Operations) Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the accident that occurred today (July 30) near Sungai Perak also left a 17-year-old motorcyclist injured.
He said the department received a distress call at 6.58am and dispatched personnel from the Kuala Kangsar Fire and Rescue Station to the scene.
“Firefighters arrived at 7.16am and found that two motorcycles – a Yamaha LC and a Yamaha Lagenda had collided with the fallen tree.
“The teenager had been taken to hospital by a Health Ministry ambulance before firefighters arrived,” he said.
He added the elderly victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Health Ministry personnel.
“Firefighters assessed the scene and monitored the area to ensure there were no further hazards before handing the case over to the police for further investigation.
“Eight firefighters, assisted by a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle, were involved in the operation, which concluded at 7.46am,” he added.
