KUALA LUMPUR: Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) will provide additional trips for KTM Komuter and Electric Train Services (ETS) for three days starting tomorrow in conjunction with the Negri Sembilan election.
KTMB said the initiative was implemented to accommodate the higher number of passengers, especially voters who want to return to the state.
A total of 18 additional KTM Komuter trips will be provided according to the weekday schedule on Friday.
Another 18 trips will be provided according to the weekday schedule for Saturday and Sunday.
“This additional commuter service involves 10 trips on the Batu Caves-Pulau Sebang-Batu Caves route and eight trips on the Tanjung Malim-Port Klang-Tanjung Malim route.
“During the three days, KTMB provides a total capacity of 233,600 passengers, comprising 190,400 passengers through existing scheduled services and 43,200 passengers for additional train services,” it said in a statement.
For ETS, KTMB will provide 30 additional trips involving the KL Sentral-JB Sentral-KL Sentral routes (12 trips), JB Sentral-Seremban-JB Sentral (12 trips) and KL Sentral-Padang Besar-KL Sentral (six trips) with a total of 9,480 seats.
KTMB also said that works under the Klang Valley Electric Double Track Infrastructure Facilities Upgrading Project Phase 2 (KVDT2) on the affected route will be suspended for the three-day period to ensure smooth and safe train movement.
KTM Komuter users on the Tanjung Malim-Port Klang route are advised to change trains at KL Sentral Station to continue their journey to Seremban Station and Pulau Sebang Station.
KTMB also advises the public to plan their journeys in advance and check the latest timetable via KTMB’s official channels.
