Burglar suffers fatal heart attack during house break-in


IPOH: A burglar suffered a heart attack while trying to rob a house in Taman Star here.

State police chief Comm Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin said the 40-year-old suspect was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel during the 5am incident in Jalan Building Society on Tuesday.

“The suspect and an accomplice gained entry into the house after prying open a window.

“A struggle broke out between the suspects and the caretaker of the house,” he said in a statement yesterday.

“One of the suspects managed to escape while the other was found unconscious on the ground.

“A post-mortem found that the man died due to a blocked heart artery.”

Comm Mohd Alwi said the case would be classified as sudden death and that the break-in would be investigated under Sections 457 and 324 of the Penal Code.

“We are now in the midst of tracking down the accomplice,” he added.
