PETALING JAYA: A major police reshuffle involving a state police chief and several district police chiefs will take effect on Sept 1, Bukit Aman announced on Wednesday (July 29).
Perlis police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Muhammad Abdul Halim will be promoted to the rank of Commissioner and transferred to Bukit Aman as the new Internal Security and Public Order Department (KDNKA) deputy director (operations).
Special Branch DCP Datuk Mohd Taufik Toh Abdullah will also be promoted to Commissioner, taking over as the department's new deputy director.
Meanwhile, Sentul district police chief Asst Comm Basri Sagoni will be promoted to Senior Assistant Commissioner and assigned to the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) as principal assistant director (prevention/detention/surveillance).
Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Sazalee Adam will move to the Kuala Lumpur police contingent headquarters as its new state CID chief.
In a statement on Wednesday, Police Secretary Deputy Comm Datuk Mohamad Noor Yusof Ali confirmed that all transfers and promotions will take effect on Sept 1.
