Over 835,000 pensioners to benefit from new initiatives

PUTRAJAYA: A total of 835,146 pensioners and derivative pension beneficiaries will benefit from two new Public Service Department (JPA) initiatives, namely a pension payment channel through the Touch ‘n Go (TnG) eWallet and expanded MyPesara Plus benefits.

JPA director-general Tan Sri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz said the alternative channel was the first initiative of its kind introduced in the public sector to help retirees who face difficulties receiving their pensions due to frozen or blocked bank accounts after falling victim to financial scams.

The initiative, developed through collaboration between the JPA, Finance Ministry, Retirement Fund (Incorporated) (KWAP) and TnG eWallet, would ensure retirees continue to receive their pensions without disruption through a more flexible and secure channel.

“By May 2026, a total of 122 pensioners had received their pensions through this method, involving monthly payments amounting to RM254,841.21,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Meanwhile, Wan Ahmad Dahlan said the MyPesara Plus initiative expanded the Pensioner Benefits Programme by turning the pensioner card into more than just an identification document, allowing retirees to enjoy benefits through strategic partnerships with the private sector.

He noted that the initiative would allow retirees to enjoy special offers and discounts from strategic partners in healthcare, pharmacy, transport, retail, accommodation and other services through the physical pensioner card or the MyPesara app.
