PETALING JAYA: A man has been detained in connection with allegedly threatening a Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) personnel.
South Klang OCPD Asst Comm Lim Jit Huey said that the suspect was arrested on July 14 following a police report on the incident on the same day.
“The police confirms that on July 14 a police report was lodged by an assistant environmental health officer attached to the AKPS.
“On the same day, the police arrested a 46-year-old local man who has no previous criminal record to assist investigations.
“The case is still under investigation and efforts are ongoing to complete the probe,” he said in a statement.
On Tuesday, Port Klang AKPS commander Deputy Comm Datuk Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said an individual working as a company agent at the port had threatened to shoot the complainant.
He stressed that any form of threat, intimidation, harassment or attempt to obstruct public servants from carrying out their duties was a serious offence and would not be tolerated.
“AKPS remains committed to safeguarding the safety and welfare of its officers as they carry out their responsibility of enforcing the law and protecting the country’s borders,” he said.
In another case, a teenager in Kajang found herself in deeper trouble after fabricating a kidnapping scare to avoid being scolded for missing her ride home.
Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Naazron Abdul Yusof said that the police had received a report from the 16-year-old student on Tuesday where she claimed that she had almost been abducted along Jalan Taman Pelangi in Semenyih.
“Investigations found that CCTV footage had recorded the incident and that the actual circumstances differed from the report made.
“Investigations then showed that the report was lodged because the complainant was afraid of being reprimanded by her family after missing her transportation home following the end of school hours,” he said.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 182 of the Penal Code for providing false information to a public servant.
