Ahmad Badri appointed as new Felda chairman

KUALA LUMPUR: The Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) has appointed Tan Sri Ahmad Badri Mohd Zahir as its new chairman.

In a statement on Wednesday (July 15), Felda said the appointment reflected the government's confidence in Ahmad Badri's leadership, integrity and extensive experience in managing strategic organisations and contributing to the country's economic development.

The agency said Ahmad Badri’s leadership is expected to strengthen governance, enhance management excellence and drive Felda's transformation agenda in line with Malaysia's sustainable and inclusive development goals.

"Ahmad Badri has more than three decades of experience in the public and corporate sectors since joining the Finance Ministry in 1989. During his career, he held several key positions, including serving as Treasury secretary-general from 2018 to 2020,” the statement said.

Ahmad Badri previously served as chairman of the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) and sat on the boards of several key national institutions, including Bank Negara (BNM), Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) and Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB).

He currently serves as chairman of RHB Bank Bhd and the Malaysian Rubber Board (LGM), while also sitting on the board of Sime Darby Bhd.

Ahmad Badri holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Hull in the United Kingdom and a bachelor's degree in Estate Management from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).

Felda said it is confident that under Ahmad Badri's leadership, the organisation will continue strengthening the Felda Group's transformation agenda, improve economic sustainability and create greater value for more than three million settlers.

The agency added that Ahmad Badri's leadership is expected to steer Felda towards new achievements while safeguarding the welfare of settlers and ensuring long-term prosperity for future generations. - Bernama
