GEORGE TOWN: Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil heads the recipients of Penang state honours this year, receiving the Darjah Panglima Pangkuan Negeri (DPPN), which carries the title “Datuk Seri”.
The 45-year-old minister is the sole DPPN recipient. A total of 1,221 individuals will be honoured with 101 recipients receiving state orders and another 1,120 to be conferred state stars and medals.
The four-day investiture ceremony, marking the 85th birthday of Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Ramli Ngah Talib, will be held at Dewan Sri Pinang today and from Monday to Wednesday.
In a statement yesterday, state assembly Speaker Datuk Seri Law Choo Kiang said the recipients comprised state and federal civil servants, politicians, corporate figures, NGO members, local entrepreneurs and volunteers.
Nineteen recipients will receive the Darjah Gemilang Pangkuan Negeri (DGPN), which carries the title “Datuk Seri”.
Among them are M Summit Group chairman Datuk Moh See Eng, InvestPenang CEO Datuk Loo Lee Lian, Mara Incorporated Sdn Bhd chairman Datuk Abdul Halim Mohammad, Pelita Samudra Pertama (M) Sdn Bhd managing director (MD) Tan Sri Murugan Doraisamy as well as executive director Datuk KK Sihabutheen Kirudu Mohamed and Chief Judge of Malaya Datuk Seri Hashim Hamzah.
Others include Menara Rezeki Sdn Bhd MD Datuk Saiful Nizam Mohd Yusoff, Konsultant Proses Sdn Bhd MD Datuk Ramakrishnan Govindasamy, Dynuricom Sdn Bhd and AKS Nivaas Sdn Bhd MD Datuk Muralidaran Ragunathan, Bullish Aim Group of Companies group MD Datuk Peh Lai Yian, Vestland Bhd group CEO Datuk Soo Sze Ching, Chong Company Sdn Bhd MD Datuk Chan Fok Seng, EcoWorld Development Group Bhd CEO Datuk Chang Khim Wah, PENPEC Group group executive director Datuk Saw Chang Heng and Mara director-general Datuk Zulfikri Osman.
Nine recipients will receive the Darjah Yang Mulia Pangkuan Negeri (DMPN), which carries the title “Datuk”, including former Penang police chief Comm Datuk Azizee Ismail and UEM Group Bhd MD Datuk Amran Hafiz Affifudin.
A total of 72 recipients will be conferred the Darjah Setia Pangkuan Negeri (DSPN), which also carries the title “Datuk”.
Among them are Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia young entrepreneurs chairman Lee Toong Leon, Penang Development Corporation CEO Abdul Latiff Abd Aziz and SRS LRT Sdn Bhd project director Adil Putra Ahmad.
Ninety-two individuals will be conferred the Darjah Johan Negeri (DJN) while 31 will receive the Bintang Cemerlang Negeri (BCN).
Other recipients include Pingat Kelakuan Terpuji (194), Pingat Jasa Kebaktian (328), Pingat Jasa Masyarakat (463) and Pingat Bakti Setia (12).
