Onn Hafiz: Send a clear message to Pakatan

BUKIT BATU: Voters should use the state election to send a clear message about unfulfilled promises made by the opposition in the past, says Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi (pic).

The caretaker Johor Mentri Besar said many promises made by Pakatan Harapan after wresting Johor in the 14th General Election in 2018 remain unfulfilled.

Speaking to reporters on the campaign trail here yesterday, he said Barisan Nasional has a good chance of retaining the Bukit Permai seat and wresting the Bukit Batu and Senai seats from the opposition.

The three seats are under the Kulai parliamentary constituency which is held by Pakatan.

Meanwhile, with just two more days to go, Umno secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said Barisan is wrapping up its campaign with the assumption that “every voter belonged to the other side”.

He said Barisan’s machinery would spend the final stretch going after fence-sitters and pro-opposition voters.

“We want to leave no stone unturned. Every voter is treated as an opposition supporter. Our job is to work hard and coax them on what we can offer and that is what we intend to do,” he said.

Asyraf said Barisan had traded mega ceramah for door-to-door visits, covering much ground in the first week.

He also said momentum was building, especially among non-Malay voters.

He urged Johoreans to come out in full force on Saturday, saying the people have the right to make their choice.

“Our hope is for voters to come out in full force. What matters is that we move forward,” he told reporters at a Johor entrepreneurs’ assembly at Persada Johor yesterday.
