KULAI: Pakatan Harapan Bukit Permai and Senai candidates have unveiled an eight-point action plan for the state constituencies, pledging to address residents’ bread-and-butter concerns if elected in the Johor state election.

Bukit Permai candidate Mohamad Shafwan Ali and Senai candidate Wong Bor Yang, both from DAP, said the plan focuses on improving infrastructure, healthcare, public transport, local governance, housing and economic opportunities.

Wong, who is the incumbent for Senai, said the action plan was drawn up based on the needs and concerns of residents in both constituencies.

“Our action plan focuses on the people’s basic needs and aims to improve their quality of life through practical and achievable initiatives,” he said in a press conference held at Indahpura here on Wednesday (July 8).

Wong said that among the key commitments is reducing traffic congestion by upgrading the Bandar Putra flyover interchange, constructing an alternative road linking Saleng and Jalan Jumbo, and expediting the Senai-Kulai bypass project.

Wong also pledged to improve access to healthcare by pushing for the expedited construction of health clinics in Bandar Putra and Taman Mewah in Senai.

“This is because the Senai Health Clinic, which was upgraded from a rural clinic, can no longer accommodate the increasing number of patients,” he said.

On local governance, Mohamad Shafwan said the two of them pledged to ensure property assessment rates remain reasonable, strengthen monitoring of concessionaires and contractors, and conduct regular ground visits to assess the impact of development projects on residents.

They also promised to improve last-mile public transport connectivity by expanding the Muafakat Johor bus service, introducing additional Bas.My routes according to residents’ needs, and building more pedestrian bridges and safer walkways.

“This includes expanding the Muafakat Johor bus network, adding Bas.My routes were necessary and improving pedestrian facilities to make public transport more accessible,” he said.

To address land-related issues, Mohamad Shafwan added they would work closely with relevant authorities towards speeding up the resolution of land ownership disputes, overlapping land lots and applications for lease renewals.

He said their action plan also includes measures to build safer and more liveable communities by improving drainage and flood mitigation systems, upgrading recreational parks, street lighting and public amenities, while strengthening cooperation between residents and local authorities to tackle waste management and pollution more effectively.

“To spur the local economy, we pledged to create more employment and business opportunities for local residents, simplify business licence application procedures, expand the MyKiosk initiative and promote local tourism products.

“We also want to ensure more employment and business opportunities for local residents while introducing new ideas to promote tourism products and the local economy,” he said.

As part of its housing agenda, the two candidates also pledged to push for the construction of People’s Housing Projects (PPR) in Kulai district.

“Lastly, we will continue to champion the construction of PPR projects in Kulai to expand access to affordable housing for those who need it most,” he added.

Pakatan is contesting in all 56 seats, and Johor will go to the polls this Saturday (July 11).
