Johor polls: 12,710 police personnel to cast early ballot tomorrow

JOHOR BARU: A total of 12,710 Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) voters registered with the Election Commission will cast their ballots on Tuesday (July 7).

Johor Police chief Comm Datuk Ab Rahaman Arsad said from the total figure, 12,067 voters will participate in the early voting while 643 will perform theirs via postal voting.

“There are 64 early vote centres statewide, of which 53 are the PDRM early voting centres, while 11 are at the Armed Forces centres,’’ he said in a statement.

Comm Ab Rahaman said 3,565 police personnel – comprising 647 officers, 2,806 rank-and-file members, and 112 civilian staff – will be deployed to carry out their duties.

He said this include security control at early voting centres, ballot box escorts, traffic control, crime prevention controls, operations room assignments, and law enforcement across all affected areas.

Comm Ab Rahaman said Johor police will continue to enhance its level of preparedness, monitoring, and comprehensive enforcement throughout the early voting process, and the remainder of the 16th Johor polls period.

“Firm, fair and principled action will be taken against any violation of the law, without compromise,’’ he added.

Comm Ab Rahaman reminded the public to continue complying with the law, respecting the democratic process, and extending full cooperation to personnel on the ground to ensure peace and order.
