KUALA LUMPUR: A police raid at the Selayang Wholesale Market busted a "See Ngo Lak" and online gambling operation, with eight individuals arrested.
The raid, conducted at about 8pm on Tuesday (June 30), was carried out by officers and personnel from the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters' Anti-Vice, Gambling And Secret Societies Division (D7) of the Criminal Investigation Department.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus said those arrested comprised three local men and five Myanmar nationals, aged from 30 to 45.
Investigations revealed that two of the suspects acted as organisers, while the remaining six were gamblers.
"The gambling activities have been operating for the past two months, with operations running from 7pm to 10pm daily.
"Police also seized various items used, including a table, a set of small glass bowls, three dice and RM6,266 in cash believed to be gambling proceeds," he said in a statement on Wednesday (July 1).
Comm Fadil said all the suspects were taken to the Sentul police headquarters for documentation and further investigation.
"The suspects have been remanded for four days and the case is being investigated under Section 4B(a) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953," he said.
