Top STPM students to get public university scholarships

SELAYANG: The country’s top Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) candidates will receive scholarships to pursue their bachelor’s degrees at public universities, says Fadhlina Sidek.

The Education Minister said each public university would offer one scholarship directly to a top STPM candidate, with the vice-chancellors also serving as members of the Malaysian Examinations Council.

She said the scholarships would cover tuition fees.

For the STPM 2025 cohort, 18 candidates will be offered the scholarships.

“I am personally moved by the commitment shown by all these public universities, which are willing to offer a place or a bachelor’s degree scholarship to the best STPM 2025 students today,” she said in her speech.

Fadhlina was speaking at the STPM 2025 results announcement and award ceremony for the top STPM, Malaysian University English Test and Malay Language Proficiency Certificate for Foreigners candidates on Wednesday (June 18).

She said Form Six remained an important pathway to higher education in the country, adding that efforts to improve it were bearing fruit, as reflected in the higher National Cumulative Grade Point Average recorded for STPM 2025.

Among the initiatives carried out, she said, were increasing the number of Form Six colleges, providing digital learning infrastructure in classrooms and implementing learning interventions for students who were falling behind.
