PN's way forward cannot be made unilaterally, says Ahmad Samsuri

PETALING JAYA: Any decisions on Perikatan Nasional's status, position and direction must be made through the coalition's official channels and in accordance with its constitution, says its chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar.

The PAS vice-president, in a statement on Thursday (June 11), said Perikatan was not exclusive to any single party, but was a constitutional political coalition established through consensus among its founding parties.

He noted that PAS was among Perikatan’s founding parties and that he was one of the official signatories to the coalition's formation.

"As such, any interpretation regarding the status, position and direction of Perikatan cannot be made unilaterally.

"It must be referred to the Perikatan constitution and decided through the coalition's official channels," he said.

Ahmad Samsuri, who is also the opposition leader, said his priority was to ensure that Perikatan continued to be managed in an orderly, principled and responsible manner for the benefit of the people and the nation.
