Woman and teen killed in car-lorry crash in Simunjan

KUCHING: A teenage girl and a woman were killed while a man was injured in an accident at the Batang Sadong Bridge in Simunjan on Tuesday (June 9).

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department, responding to a distress call at 6.30am, found that the incident involved a car and a lorry which was believed to have broken down.

"The two victims were believed to have been thrown from the vehicle and were pronounced dead at the scene by Health Ministry personnel.

"The male driver sustained injuries and was sent to hospital for treatment," the department said in a statement.

One of the deceased victims was identified as 19-year-old Nurfazilah Ramli.

The bodies have been handed over to the police for further action.

The lorry driver, a 22-year-old man, was unhurt.
