SEREMBAN: Some 26.4kg of methamphetamine worth an estimated RM1.3mil was seized while two suspects were detained following a raid in Port Dickson.
Negri Sembilan police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said police also seized 100 vape cartridges believed to contain ketamine-laced liquid worth some RM100,000 during the 3am operation on June 3.
“A police team, assisted by their marine counterparts first seized 12kg of syabu from two foreigners in their 30s who were in an unregistered bot pancung (speedboat) in Kg Kuala Lukut and about to leave for Dumai in Indonesia.
“We seized 10 packets of syabu weighing around 1.2kg each and which had been declared as a Chinese tea product,” he told reporters yesterday.
He said the suspects tried to escape but their boat was intercepted. Both were also found to have entered Malaysia illegally.
DCP Alzafny said following a quick interrogation of the two suspects who later tested positive for methamphetamine abuse, the police managed to get information on the individual who had supplied them with the illicit drugs.
“We then sent out information to our patrol teams to look out for a particular car which was eventually spotted near Tanjung Agas.
“The police gave chase and after a few kilometres, the driver lost control of the car and crashed along an oil palm plantation near Pengkalan Kempas,” he said, adding that the driver managed to escape into the bushes.
He said police found another 12 packets of syabu weighing some 14.4kg and worth some RM745,000 inside the car.
The 100 vape cartridges were also found alongside it.
“We believe the car driver who worked as a transporter had received the drugs from a source in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, and sent the first consignment to the two foreigners.
“We managed to track him down before he could handover the second consignment to another buyer.”
DCP Alzafny said the suspect is a 42-year-old local who is on record with six previous drug-related offences.
The syabu could have been supplied to 132,000 drug users.
He said the police believe it was the suspects’ fourth trip to take drugs back to their country.
“It was the first time they had landed in Port Dickson to get the consignment.
“On three previous occasions, they did so along beaches in Melaka.”
He said police also seized the car and the speedboat which was powered by two 200 horsepower engines during the operation.
