Four family members killed in Johor crash laid to rest


DUNGUN: Four family members, including a 10-year-old girl, who were killed in a five-vehicle crash on Jalan Johor Bahru-Ayer Hitam in Simpang Renggam, Johor on Monday (June 1), were laid to rest on Tuesday (June 2) morning.

Mohd Aiman Mohd Rashid, 36; his wife Nor Azlina Abd Latif, 33; her mother Semek Mat Soh, 73; and Mohd Aiman’s niece Nur Airish Syifa Sidek, 10, were buried in a single grave at the Bandar Al-Muktafi Billah Shah Muslim Cemetery here at 9.25am

Earlier, the bodies arrived at Sultan Mahmud Bandar Al-Muktafi Billah Shah Mosque at 8.35 am for funeral prayers after being brought from Hospital Enche’ Besar Hajah Khalsom in Kluang, Johor, where post-mortem procedures were conducted on Monday night.

More than 200 relatives and friends attended the funeral, which ended at 10.45am.

In the 1.16pm incident on Monday, Mohd Aiman, who lived and worked at an oil palm plantation in Felda Ulu Sedili, Johor, was believed to have been on his way home after attending a family gathering in Telok Emas, Melaka.

The crash is believed to have occurred when a luxury car lost control and entered the opposite lane before colliding with the car carrying the family, as well as three other vehicles.

The driver of the luxury car also died while being taken to hospital. - Bernama
