Ten-year-old among four killed in crash near Kluang


KLUANG: Four people, including a 10-year-old girl, have died in a crash on the Johor Baru-Ayer Hitam road, opposite Simpang Renggam Prison, on Monday (June 1).

Renggam Fire and Rescue Station operations commander, senior fire officer II Ismail Mamat, said an emergency call was received at about 1.16pm of a five-vehicle crash involving an MPV, two sedans and two luxury cars.

He said a SITRAK fire engine and five personnel rushed to the scene, where they found several victims still trapped inside one of the sedans.

"The victims from one sedan were pronounced dead at the scene. One of them, an elderly woman, had been thrown from the car and was found on top of one of the luxury cars," he said in a statement.

"The deceased have been identified as Mohd Aiman Mohd Rashid, 36, Nur Airish Syifa Sidek, 10, Nor Azlina Abd. Latif, 33, and Semek Mat Soh, 73," he said.

Meanwhile, the Kluang police chief said a statement on the fatal crash would be released later. - Bernama
