PETALING JAYA: PKR has restructured its election machinery leadership, appointing Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shaari as joint election director alongside Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail to strengthen preparations for upcoming polls.
PKR secretary-general Dr Fuziah Salleh also announced that Azman Abidin had been appointed director of its main election operations room, or war room, assisted by Ruji Ubi.
PKR said the appointments were part of a strategic restructuring aimed at improving coordination, field operations and monitoring of election-related work.
“The appointments form part of the party’s strategic restructuring to ensure PKR’s election machinery continues to be refined, coordinated and mobilised more comprehensively at all levels,” Fuziah said in a statement Tuesday (May 26).
The statement added that PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar will continue to play a strategic role by focusing on capacity building and strengthening party machinery as part of efforts to create a more organised and resilient grassroots network, the statement added.
The party said its strength depended not only on central leadership but also on grassroots members working directly with the public.
“PKR is now moving into the next phase with the determination to close ranks within the party, strengthen grassroots capabilities and ensure the entire machinery moves as one focused, organised and prepared team to face future electoral challenges,” Fuziah said.
PKR also welcomed new members, saying 5,936 people joined the party between April and May this year.
