Aidiladha festive rush builds as traffic crawls into Kelantan

GUA MUSANG: Traffic heading into Kelantan via Gua Musang began building up on Tuesday (May 26) as more "balik kampung" travellers returned home ahead of Hari Raya Aidiladha.

Gua Musang OCPD Supt Sik Choon Foo said the number of vehicles entering the district had increased compared with the previous day but the situation was under control.

The congestion was concentrated along the Gua Musang-Kuala Lipis route near Kampung Mentara at the Pahang-Kelantan border, where vehicles were moving at a slower pace before entering Gua Musang town.

"Traffic conditions remain manageable, particularly in the Kampung Mentara area, despite the increase in vehicle volume.

"We are also monitoring slower movement at the traffic lights at Bendahara Junction heading towards Kuala Krai," he said when contacted.

To ease congestion and maintain smooth traffic movement, he said police personnel had been deployed at key locations and would carry out dispersal measures whenever necessary.

Road users were also advised to observe traffic regulations, maintain a safe following distance and plan their journeys carefully to reduce delays during the festive travel period.

A check at about 2pm found that traffic continued to move steadily but slowly between Kampung Mentara and Kampung Lepan Jaya as vehicles streamed into Kelantan ahead of the Aidiladha celebration on Wednesday (May 27). – Bernama
