Supporters gather in KLIA to welcome Global Sumud Flotilla activists’ return

SEPANG: Dozens of supporters and family members of the Malaysian activists involved in the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2.0 have begun to gather at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

What began as just a handful of supporters around 9pm has grown to a decent crowd of at least a few dozen holding banners with messages of support for the returning Malaysians.

The crowd is also continuing to slowly grow as family members of the activists begin to arrive at the airport’s arrival hall on Sunday (May 24).

Of the 29 Malaysians onboard the GSF humanitarian mission, 28 are expected to make their return to Malaysia on Sunday with one still undergoing medical treatment in Turkiye.

The detained Malaysians were among the 428 activists from 40 countries on board 50 vessels who were intercepted by Israeli forces about 80 nautical miles off the coast of Gaza during the main GSF 2.0 mission on May 20.
