169,803 SPM leavers offered IPTA places


PETALING JAYA: A total of 169,803 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2025 school leavers have been offered places at public higher learning institutions (IPTA), says the Higher Education Ministry.

It said the figure represents 72.11% of the total 235,480 applications received through the UPUOnline system.

“Of the total, 91,357 candidates were offered places at public universities, 60,947 at polytechnic institutes, 15,844 at community colleges and 1,655 at institutions under the Mara Higher Education Division.

“The ministry also provided special pathways for 701 persons with disabilities, 310 Orang Asli candidates, 179 athletes and 10,499 candidates from the B40 group,” it said in a statement.

Sixty-five applicants from institutions under the Social Welfare Department were offered places at IPTA, the statement said.

“The ministry also offered places to candidates who achieved excellent results of 8As and above,” it said.

The ministry also said that candidates who did not receive an offer can submit an appeal through UPUOnline within 10 days, from noon today until 5pm on May 31.
