Clean premises, school canteen operator told

GEORGE TOWN: The Penang Education Department has directed a school canteen operator to comply with Health Department orders to sanitise its premises following the discovery of rat droppings.

State Education director Mohd Dziauddin Mat Saad said the canteen was ordered on Thursday to shut down for two weeks for violating Section 11 of the Food Act.

“This is a routine procedure by the health authorities following an inspection that found rat droppings at the premises,” he said yesterday.

Mohd Dziauddin said the canteen operator was also issued a compound notice.

“So far, no food poisoning cases have been reported among the pupils or teachers at the school,” he said.
