Anwar receives courtesy call from international scholar Vali Nasr

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Wednesday (May 13) received a courtesy call from international scholar Prof Seyyed Vali Reza Nasr at Perdana Putra in Putrajaya.

In a Facebook post, Anwar said Vali Nasr, a renowned scholar, author and international relations expert in West Asian politics and Islamic studies, was in Malaysia at the invitation of the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).

The Prime Minister said the meeting was used to exchange views on developments surrounding the United States-Iran conflict, including its implications on global geopolitical stability, regional security and the ongoing global energy supply crisis.

"May all efforts and diplomatic initiatives undertaken by the international community help ease tensions and subsequently ensure global peace, stability and prosperity,” he said in the post.

Vali Nasr is the Majid Khadduri Professor of International Affairs and Middle East Studies at Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), United States. - Bernama
