Couple nabbed after Gombak house break-in

PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested an Indonesian couple following a house break-in at a residence in Taman Melawati, Gombak, involving losses estimated at around RM800,000.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Khairul Anuar Khalid said the husband and wife were arrested on May 9.

“Arrests were carried out against an Indonesian married couple on May 9, 2026, to assist investigations.

“The case is still under police investigation,” he said in a brief statement on Sunday (May 10).

Earlier, police said the incident was discovered at about 11.30pm on May 7 when the complainant returned to the house at Jalan I-Satu and found the living room and several bedrooms ransacked.

Investigations found the suspect is believed to have gained entry by prying open the grille and back door before searching several areas of the house.

Police forensic personnel also recovered three fingerprints from the scene for further investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for housebreaking.
