Perikatan's five Negri reps say ready to work with Barisan assemblymen

SEREMBAN: Negri Sembilan Perikatan Nasional is prepared to work with Barisan Nasional to ensure the stability of the state government.

State Opposition chief Mohamad Hanifah Abu Baker said their five assemblymen were prepared to work with the 14 Barisan Nasional assemblymen who had earlier in the day declared that they had lost confidence in the leadership of Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.

"Perikatan assemblymen have always put the priority of the people of Negri Sembilan as part of their agenda and party struggle.

"We are now prepared to work with Barisan Nasional and Umno to ensure the stability of the state government and its continued administration for the development of the state and betterment of the people," he told a media conference.

Also present were the other four state Perikatan assemblymen.

Mohamad Hanifah, who is Labu assemblyman, said the state chapter was also saddened by the state's royal crisis.

"This crisis has prolonged and has affected the administration of the state which led to the state legislative assembly sitting being postponed indefinitely.

"This shows that Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun has failed to handle the crisis responsibly," he said.

Mohamad Hanifah did not take questions from the media

He later handed a letter to state Umno secretary Datuk Mustapha Nagoor expressing Perikatan's willingness to work with the party in the state.

Perikatan secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan and PAS deputy election chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa were also seen at the media conference venue earlier.

However, they did not sit in at the media conference.

When met later, Mustapha said he would hand over the letter to state Umno chief Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias.

"Since they have expressed their intention to work together, let the party decide," he said.
