12-year-old boy found unconscious in Melaka drain


MELAKA: A 12-year-old boy was found unconscious on Monday (April 27) after reportedly falling into a drain at Taman Ayer Keroh Height here.

Melaka Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (Operations) Mohd Shahrom Laji said a distress call was received at 5.53pm and firefighters arrived at the scene at 7.02pm.

"The fire brigade searched the water surface and located the victim approximately six metres from where he was believed to have fallen.

"The victim was found unconscious, and initial first aid was administered to the boy," he said in a statement on Monday night.

The victim was sent to Melaka Hospital for treatment.

The operation involved six fire personnel, assisted by three health officers and four police officers. – Bernama
