Suspect arrested after Tawau teen lured to hotel and raped


KOTA KINABALU: A teenager was allegedly raped after being lured from a nightclub to a hotel room in Tawau while intoxicated.

Tawau OCPD Asst Comm Jasmin Hussin said the suspect drove the girl to a hotel in a four-wheel-drive vehicle early on Sunday (April 19).

The victim subsequently lodged a police report, he said in a statement on Monday (April 20).

ACP  Jasmin said that acting on the report, a team from the district Criminal Investigation Division tracked down and arrested the 29-year-old local suspect within 24 hours at Kampung Pukat.

"He has no criminal record.

"The suspect is being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape," he added.
