Thunderstorms and heavy rain expected in Perak, Pahang and Sarawak


PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning for several districts in Perak, Pahang and Sarawak, effective until 10am on Monday (Apr 13).

In Perak, the affected areas include Kinta, Kampar and Batang Padang.

Residents in Pahang should expect heavy rain and strong winds in Tanah Tinggi Cameron and Lipis.

In Sarawak, the warning covers the Kapit (Kapit and Belaga), Bintulu and Miri (Subis) regions.

MetMalaysia issues these warnings when there are signs indicating a thunderstorm with a rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour that is imminent or expected to occur for more than one hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning that is valid for a period not exceeding six hours for any single release.

The notice was officially issued by the department at 6.50am today.
