KUALA LUMPUR: U Mobile has launched a new range of ULTRA5G mobile plans for prepaid, postpaid and business users, as it seeks to differentiate its offerings in Malaysia’s increasingly competitive 5G market.
The ULTRA5G portfolio includes plans across consumer and enterprise segments, with added features beyond standard 5G access, including priority network access, built-in security functions, and roaming options.
One key feature is a “Priority Pass”, which allows users to purchase temporary priority access during periods of network congestion, such as at concerts, malls or transport hubs. The passes are priced from RM2 for one hour to RM5 for three hours.
U Mobile chief consumer business officer Navin Manian said the new prepaid plans will not have a data speed cap, allowing users to access higher Internet speeds compared to previous offerings.
The prepaid plans also include a built-in ULTRA Security feature that protects against phishing SMS, fraudulent calls, and unsafe websites.
Prepaid plans are priced at RM28, RM38, and RM50, offering 50GB, 250GB, and 500GB of data, respectively.
Meanwhile, postpaid plans are priced at RM45, RM68 and RM98, with an additional RM128 family option.
The RM45 plan offers 500GB of data, while higher-tier plans provide up to 1,000GB.
All postpaid plans include a set number of complimentary ULTRA5G Priority Pass uses each month, with those in the RM68 tier and above receiving additional passes.
Moreover, each plan offers 15GB of free global roaming data monthly.
In addition to the ULTRA Security feature, postpaid plan users can also opt for advanced paid protection against identity theft, viruses and malware, and cyberfraud insurance coverage at RM5 a month, which is given free for the first three months after signing up.
“With our next-gen 5G AI-powered network, U Mobile is now well-positioned to deliver best-in-class plans that meet consumers’ needs, whether it is faster speeds; greater data quota; reliable connectivity at home or while travelling; or enhanced security against cyber threats and scams.
“Our latest ULTRA Prepaid and Postpaid plans are designed to meet those needs seamlessly – delivering an experience unlike any other on the market,” Navin said.
As for businesses, U Mobile’s new ULTRA Business Postpaid plans will include ULTRA5G Reserve, a built-in network prioritisation feature that ensures enterprise traffic is given priority for more consistent performance, even during peak periods.
The business plans range from RM45 to RM138, with data quotas of 500GB to 2,000GB, plus free global roaming data on the higher-tier plans.
The plans also feature increased online security, with always-on intelligent security built into the network that protects against malware, spyware, phishing and data breaches without requiring additional software installation.
Outside of mobile plans, U Mobile has also introduced new business network plans, including Ultra Business WiFi, Business Fibre, Dedicated Internet Access, and Ultra IoT.
U Mobile chief technology officer Woon Ooi Yuen also said that the mobile network has reached 82.9% 5G national coverage of populated areas as of the end of March this year.
To give Malaysians a taste of the ULTRA5G experience, U Mobile is also offering a complimentary 7-day trial that includes 10GB of ultra-fast 5G data and free calls to all networks on any e-SIM-compatible devices.
