Remand extended for three men who allegedly attacked cops at Penang apartment


GEORGE TOWN: The remand of three suspects who allegedly attack policemen at an apartment in Jalan Sungai here has been extended by three days.

Penang police chief Datuk Azizee Ismail said the three men in their 30s will be remanded until March 30, while the other five were released on police bail on Saturday (March 28).

"Police are continuing investigations, including completing the investigation papers," he told Bernama when contacted on Saturday.

In the 9.50pm incident on Wednesday (March 25), four policemen conducting enforcement at the apartment sought backup to pursue an individual who fled into the residential area when a scuffle broke out with several people.

Three policemen sustained minor injuries in the incident.

Following the incident, eight local men aged from 28 were 39 were detained for investigations under Sections 147 and 353 of the Penal Code for rioting and using criminal force or intimidation against public servants. – Bernama
