Mother and daughter killed in Sandakan motorcycle crash


KOTA KINABALU: A mother and her young daughter were killed after the motorcycle they were riding pillion was involved in an accident along Jalan Labuk in Sandakan.

The seven-year-old girl died at the scene, while her 28-year-old mother died shortly after receiving treatment at Duchess of Kent Hospital following the 4pm accident.

In the incident on Saturday (March 21), the motorcycle collided with an oncoming car while on its way to Beluran.

“The motorcyclist and the car driver, who were also injured, are receiving treatment at Duchess of Kent Hospital,” Sandakan district police chief Asst Comm George Abd Rakman said.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
