PETALING JAYA: As Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations unfold, the King and leaders from all sides of the political divide are striking a common chord, calling on Malaysians to safeguard unity and harmony as the bedrock of the country’s peace and prosperity.

His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, led the nation’s leaders in extending Hari Raya Aidilfitri greetings to Muslims across the country.

In a post on his official Facebook page, Sultan Ibrahim shared a photo of himself with Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, accompanied by the message: “Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, maaf zahir dan batin.”

The post was met with well wishes from Malaysians, who also took the opportunity to convey their festive greetings to the King and Queen.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in his Hari Raya message to Malaysians urged all to uphold the values of discipline, compassion and restraint cultivated during Ramadan, stressing that unity and shared responsibility are key to navigating economic uncertainties and external challenges.

“Malaysia is built on diversity, and it is this spirit that allows traditions such as visiting one another and hosting open houses during Aidilfitri to be shared and celebrated by all communities.

“However, we must remain mindful that the world today is facing various challenges and uncertainties. Our strength as a nation lies in our unity of heart, unity of purpose and collective resolve to preserve harmony and stability.

“As we welcome Aidilfitri, let us celebrate in moderation and remain sensitive to the struggles faced by others, both within our country and beyond.

“With careful planning and strong foundations, I am confident that Malaysia will remain resilient and optimistic,” he said.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi urged all Muslims to spread the message of love, peace and forgiveness during the festive holiday.

The Barisan Nasional chairman and Umno president also wished all Malaysians a joyous Raya season on behalf of his family, staff and all members of Umno.

“May all Muslims have a blessed Hari Raya Aidilfitri, wherever you may be and let us continue to nurture love, strengthen ties and sincerely forgive one another,” Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Rural and Regional Development Minister, said in a Facebook post.

MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong wished everyone a safe and meaningful festive season in his Hari Raya Aidilfitri greetings.

“Hari Raya is a celebration that reflects unity, love and the spirit of forgiveness – values that are especially important in a multiracial society like Malaysia.

“In our enthusiasm to celebrate, let us also not overlook those who are less fortunate. Celebrate with simplicity and gratitude.

“Please remember to be cautious on the road, obey traffic rules, plan your journey well and always prioritise the safety of yourself and your family,” he said in a Facebook post yesterday.

Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu gave his assurance that there was sufficient national food supply for the current festive Raya season until May.

In his Hari Raya greeting, the Amanah president urged everyone to buy according to their needs, spend wisely and avoid wastage.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke advised the public to drive safely on the way home.

He thanked Road Transport Department (JPJ) personnel who remain on duty during the festive season.

“Road users are advised to drive carefully, responsibly, obey traffic rules and prioritise safety,” the DAP secretary-general said in a Facebook post.

Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming similarly wished Malaysians a safe journey home and to use the holiday to strengthen our values of unity, harmony and compassion.

“Together, let us continue to preserve the unity and harmony that form the foundation of our beloved Malaysia’s strength,” the DAP deputy chairman said in his Hari Raya greeting posted on Facebook.

Sabah Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Musa Aman called on Malaysians to use the Raya celebrations as motivators to strengthen unity in a multiracial and religiously diverse state.

“Let us work towards gathering our energies and resources to better our lives, be it morally, economically, educationally or socially,” he said in his Hari Raya message.

Sarawak Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said he is proud to see Hari Raya celebrated in the spirit of multicultural unity and mutual respect in the state.

“This shows that cultural and religious diversity is not a gap that divides but a bridge connecting hearts and cultures,” he said in his Hari Raya message.

Perikatan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar urged Malaysians to be more patient, compassionate and responsible towards each other.

“May the values of patience, sincerity and reflection that we learned throughout Ramadan continue to guide us in building a more just, prosperous and united Malaysia this Hari Raya,” he said in his Hari Raya greeting posted on Facebook.
