500 Sabah Electricity personnel on duty to make sure the lights stay on during Raya

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Electricity will deploy a total of 500 personnel during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations to ensure that electricity supply across the state remains stable.

Those on duty, comprising engineers, technicians and operations staff, will be deployed across power stations, substations and system control centres to ensure the people enjoy the festivities without power disruptions, its chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Yaakob Jaafar said Friday (March 20).

He said they would conduct round-the-clock monitoring and respond immediately to any potential supply issues.

"The dedication of the workforce during the festive season reflects the company’s priority in safeguarding the well-being of the people.

"Although Hari Raya is a time to be with family, we greatly appreciate the commitment of our staff who continue to serve on the morning of Syawal.

"They are the backbone of maintaining a stable electricity supply, especially when demand increases during the festive season," he said.

According to Yaakob, the level of operational readiness during festive periods has been stepped up through coordination of technical teams on the ground and centralised system monitoring to manage any disruptions swiftly and effectively.

He also advised the public to prioritise electrical safety and practise efficient energy use.
