Five-year-old boy dies after cars crash in Kota Tinggi


KOTA TINGGI: A five-year-old boy involved in an accident has passed away while receiving treatment at the Kota Tinggi Hospital here.

Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Yusof Othman said the incident involving two cars occurred at KM8.4 Jalan Kota Tinggi-Kluang.

"We received calls from the public about the incident at 1.45pm on Friday (March 13)," he said in a statement.

Supt Yusof said the victim was in a car driven by the deceased's 50-year-old grandmother together with another 26-year-old male passenger.

He said the other car was driven by a 61-year-old woman and had an eight-year-old boy as a passenger.

"Both cars were travelling from Kampung Temenin to Kota Tinggi when the accident took place," said Supt Yusof.

He said the victim's body was taken to the Kota Tinggi Hospital for a post-mortem examination and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

He added that the drivers and passengers of both vehicles were admitted to the Kota Tinggi Hospital for treatment.
