GOF moots demolishing illegal stores

TUMPAT: Illegal stores built along the banks of Sungai Golok in Rantau Panjang ought to be demolished, according to a proposal by the General Operations Force (GOF), Bernama reported.

GOF Southeast Brigade Commander SAC Ahmad Radzi Hussain said the local authority (PBT) has the power to demolish storage buildings constructed without approval from the district council, thus helping to curb smuggling activities concealed behind such premises.

He added that the matter had been discussed with the National Security Council (MKN).

“So far, 65 such illegal storage structures have been identified operating along Sungai Golok ... the GOF requests that PBT takes action to demolish these illegal storage structures to prevent them from continuing to be used for unlawful activities,” he said at the GOF Tactical Headquarters in Pengkalan Kubor here.
