Myanmar man arrested in PD for compatriot's murder


PORT DICKSON: A 21-year-old Myanmar national has been arrested on suspicion of stabbing a fellow countryman 29 times while reportedly in a drunken stupor.

District OCPD Supt Maslan Udin said police have obtained an order to remand the murder suspect for seven days until Monday (Feb 16).

"The suspect was detained around 10am on Monday (Feb 9) in Bukit Pelanduk.

"The alleged murder happened the previous day in a room of a shoplot along the main road in the same area," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Feb 11).

Supt Maslan said both the suspect and the 26-year-old victim were believed to have been drinking liquor together in the room when the incident happened.

"We are still investigating the motive of the alleged murder," he said, adding that the duo worked at the same eatery.

Supt Maslan said an autopsy found that the victim had been repeatedly stabbed in the neck.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
