PETALING JAYA: The MCA Chinese New Year Open House is not just about celebration, it is also about bringing people together, says MCA secretary-general Datuk Chong Sin Woon (pic).
He said the event offers a meaningful opportunity for Malaysians of all backgrounds to meet, interact and strengthen the bonds that unite us in our diversity.
“The party remains committed to the values of moderation and inclusiveness, and will continue to work towards fostering harmony and mutual respect among all communities.
“Chinese New Year is the most important traditional festival for the Chinese community. By opening our doors to all, MCA hopes to create a space where people from different backgrounds can gather, exchange greetings, and interact with one another.
“This, in turn, will help deepen understanding and unity among all communities as we work collectively towards a more harmonious, inclusive, and stable Malaysia,” he said in a statement yesterday.
As a Chinese-based political party, Chong said MCA will continue to uphold tradition by inviting government and political leaders to our Chinese New Year Open House.
They include Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, leaders of Barisan Nasional component parties, foreign envoys, government representatives, MCA veterans, members of the business community, leaders of Chinese guilds and associations, and friends from all walks of life, he added.
The MCA Chinese New Year Open House will be held on Feb 17 at 9.30am at Dewan San Choon, Wisma MCA.
All Malaysians are invited to come and share in the joyous celebration while strengthening harmony and mutual understanding among the diverse society.
The programme will feature a variety of cultural activities, including lion dance performances and acrobatic pole-jumping as well as booths showcasing paper cutting, dough figurine crafting, calligraphy and Chinese knot-making.
Stage performances will include singing and live band music.
Refreshments will be provided, and members of the public are warmly welcome to attend with their families and friends to celebrate a joyful and meaningful Chinese New Year together.
