I'm not done yet, says Ismail Sabri on political career


JOHOR BARU: Former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob says he does not consider his political career to be over and remains active as the Bera MP and Bera Umno chief.

However, he said any decision regarding his political future would be made when the time comes.

"I am still active as the Bera MP and Bera Umno division chief. But I am aware that I am no longer active in the mainstream political landscape of the country.

"Any decision regarding the general election will be made when the time comes.

"For now, my focus is on helping about 1,000 orphans who lost their parents during the Covid-19 pandemic," he said.

He said that to reporters after visiting one of the monthly aid recipients of Yayasan Keluarga Malaysia during a ziarah kasih programme in Larkin here on Tuesday (Feb 10).

In the GE15, Ismail Sabri retained the Bera parliamentary seat with a majority of 16,695 votes against candidates from Pakatan Harapan and Perikatan Nasional.

Ismail Sabri has successfully retained the seat for five consecutive terms.
